A Cloud of Forgetting (Una nube del olvido)
Muséo de la Ciudad de Querétaro
May - Sept 1, 2019

chromite, epodite, graphite, burnt sienna, burnt umber, raw umber, ochre, iron oxide, caput mortum, ultramarine, opal, copper, manganese black, bone black, mars black, carbon black; dispersed in water and scrubbed into the walls of an exhibition hall at Muséo de la Ciudad de Querétaro, a former Capuchin Convent, every day for 21 days in May; it’s title is a thought form found in a 14th century anonymous mystical text which contemplates the limits of knowledge as a guide to apophatic prayer; this too was a labour of negation and penance; a reverse extraction of minerals seeking to obscure, renounce, reverse, and finally to forget (by paying another’s debt; by concealing to reveal).
